Programme

Michelle Choi is a current student in the Royal Academy of Music's PG program under the instruction of William Bennett, Karen Jones and Pat Morris. A native of Seoul, she was admitted to Seoul Arts High School which is the most prestigious music school in South Korea. She made her debut with New Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in 2005, while she was in Korea. She went to a bilingual high school, EaB International The Victor Hugo School in Paris, as she had private lessons with Vincent Lucas, the professor of Paris conservatoire. She has also studied with Kathryn Lukas at Indiana University for two years and was a recipient of multiple scholarships and awards given in the Jacobs School of Music including Premier Young Artist Award, Merit scholarship, and Gignilliat Music Scholarship Fund. She obtained her Bachelor degree from Royal Academy of Music where she studied with Kate Hill, William Bennett, Helen Keen and Sophie Johnson. She was recently awarded Bache Fund Prize, very highly commended at the Academy's J&J Brough Flute Prize, and highly commended at the Springboard Festival Concerto Competition in Brighton. Other prizes include Indianapolis Matinee Musicale Collegiate Scholarship Competition, and Flute concerto competition of the Jacobs School of Music. Travelling to lots of countries, she has performed in many concerts and recitals in various countries such as Korea, France, Japan and USA.
