Ji Young

                       

Korean flautist Ji Young Kim is currently in her fourth year of her undergraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London with William Bennett and Kate Hill. She previously studied at Sunhwa Arts School, known as one of the most distinguished music schools in South Korea.

As a soloist, she has won top prizes in several competitions including 1st Prize in the All Flutes Plus Royal Academy of Music Flute Competition, the Korea Flute Association Competition and the Seoul Flute Competition. As a chamber musician, her flute trio ‘Image Trio’ were awarded “Very Highly Commended” in the Nicholas Blake Woodwind Ensemble Prize and had the opportunity to perform at Southwark Cathedral for their Tuesday Afternoon Recital Series. They have also participated in the semi-final at the International Kuhalu Flute Competition. Her wind quintet has won numerous prizes including 1st prize in the International Music Arts Association Music Competition. She also had the opportunity to perform at Wigmore Hall for the ‘For Crying Out Loud!’ concert series. Ji Young has regularly played with the Seocho Youth Orchestra, and with this orchestra she made her concerto debut in 2013, playing Mozart’s Flute Concerto No.2, K. 314 in Seoul, South Korea.
